Product description "Epoxy resin"

  • Sea-Line® structural epoxy is a comprehensive application.
  • It works in both the construction and repair of damaged parts of the boat.
  • This resin is recommended for laminating, sealing, enhancing the surface, bonding and linking the various elements of the structure.
  • In conjunction with the glass mat, it is used for manual repairs of substantial damage.
  • The coating has very good adhesion to any type of substrate and very high resistance and hardness.
  • Component A and B is colorless.
  • To obtain a full-fledged and adequately strong laminate, use a 2:1 weight ratio of resin to fibre glass mat for epoxy or a 1:1 weight ratio of resin to glass fabric.
  • To finish laminated surfaces we recommend using Sea-Line® epoxy fillers, Sea-Line® epoxy primers and Sea-Line® topcoats.

The resin is available in 3 sets:

  • Set of 250 g
includes an epoxy resin with hardener, fabric glass (0,25 m 2), disposable gloves, a brush and a cup with a scale for easy dosing of ingredients and instructions for repair.
  • Set of 0,9 kg
includes an epoxy resin with hardener
  • Set of 0,5 kg and 5,0 kg
includes an epoxy resin with hardener

Surface preparation

To achieve a high-quality and sufficiently strong laminate, use the following weight ratio:

  • For mats, use a 2:1 ratio – 2 kg of polyester resin for 1 kg of powdered glass mat
  • For fabrics, use a 1:1 ratio – 1 kg of polyester resin for 1 kg of glass fabric

Further work

For finishing the laminated sections, we recommend using materials such as:

  •  Sea-Line® epoxy fillers
  •  Sea-Line® epoxy primers
  •  Sea-Line® topcoats

Our FAQ answers to frequently asked questions

    Why are the streaks formed?

    Possible causes

    • Wrong viscosity and spraying technique,
    • Failure to maintain proper evaporation time and thickness of layers,
    • Incorrect spraying pressure,
    • Too low temperature of varnish, surface or space ,
    • Wrong thinner or hardener.

    How to prevent

    • Apply the right type of application method indicated by manufacturer,
    • Use working spray guns,
    • Both the object and material must have room temperature of 20ﹾC,
    • Apply correct proportion of base and hardener.

    How to remove

    • Grinding and polishing,
    • Grinding and painting,

Why despite the use of antifouing paint the bottom of the boat is overgrown?

    Possible causes

    • Too thin layer of antifouling paint,
    • Choosing the wrong antifouling to type of a boat or yacht
    • Thinning of antifouling paint,
    • Incorrect surface preparation before antifouling application.

    How to prevent

    • Apply the right layer thickness of paint indicated by manufacturer,
    • Choose antifouling dedicated to type of boat or yacht and suitable for the type of water,
    • Do not thin antifouling because of the risk of reducing effectiveness,
    • Careful surface preparations (grinding, clearing, degreasing),

    How to remove

    • Wet grinding, apply new layers of antifouling paint.
    • Use C1 shell and fouling remover.

Can I paint the bottom of the boat with polyurethane paint?

Yes, you can paint the bottom of the boat with polyurethane paint due to its high mechanical strength. We recommend this solution when the boat is not launched for a long time and is not exposed to fouling.
