LIGHT COLOR GELCOAT – POLISHING INSTRUCTION

USE:

Renewing the gelcoat surface of light color with mechanical damage and scratches that require polishing
Removal of discoloration, yellowing, dull, oxidation of surface

SURFACE:

Gelcoat (laminate) in light color

EFECT:

Smooth, free from defects, high gloss finish

Practical advice:

Do not push polishing machine to surface
For the beginning do not apply too much polishing compound, grain should be ground completely during polishing process
Apply more polishing compound only when it is necessary, you will save material used to polishing process

How to prevent

Use a brush/Toller suited to the type of surface or paint,
Use thinner which is dedicated to the type of application and paints
Use thinning proportions which was indicated by manufacturer,
Paint in right atmosphere conditions indicated by manufacturer,

How to remove

Grind, clean and paint again.

Yes, you can paint the bottom of the boat with polyurethane paint due to its high mechanical strength. We recommend this solution when the boat is not launched for a long time and is not exposed to fouling.

Possible causes

Incorrect proportion of base and herdener,
Too low temperature of ambient and surface (less than 10ﹾC),
Mixing two components from two different manufacturers,

How to prevent

Apply the correct proportions of components
Maintain steady temperature (around 20ﹾC) during the whole hardening process,
Use base and hardener from the same manufacturer

How to remove

The uncured mass requires complete removal from the surface.
