Application method

  • Sand the laminate surface to a uniform roughness (P100-P240 sandpaper).
  • Remove dust and wash with a degreasing agent.
  • Mix the gelcoat putty ingredients until a uniform color is achieved (do not mix larger quantities than can be used within the shelf life).
  • Apply the gelcoat putty to the damaged area with a spatula, smooth it out, and wait for it to fully cure, approximately 4 hours.

Further Work

  • Once the putty has cured, sand the surface to even it out. The choice of sandpaper will depend on the condition of the surface after application. You can use:
    • Coarse sanding: P240~P800 sandpaper
    • Finish sanding: P800~P1200 sandpaper
  • Clean the surface
  • For polishing, use one of the Sea-Line polishing pastes:
    • S1 PREMIUM or S1
    • S05 or S0
  • To protect the surface, use Sea-Line® S4 protective wax

Our FAQ answers to frequently asked questions

Can I use yacht paints for a drinking water tank?

Sea-Line yacht paints are designed for painting the surface of boats and yachts made of various materials, e.g. laminate, wood or steel. We do not have a certificate of the National Institute of Hygiene, which would allow the use of yacht paint to paint the tank with drinking water.

Is it necessary to always sand the surface between application of two different products?

We recommend to always sand the surface between applying two different products to ensure uniform surface roughness and adhesion of subsequent layers. The sanded surface should also be cleaned and degreased.

Why the resin does not harden?

    Possible causes

    • Too low temperature of ambitne,
    • Incorrect proportion of base and herdener,
    • Mixing two components from two different manufacturers

    How to prevent

    • Apply the correct proportions of components
    • Maintain steady temperature (around 20ﹾC) during whole hardening process,
    • Mix the products thoroughly and bleed the mixture.

    How to remove

    • The uncured mass requires complete removal from the surface.
