„…  It was not easy,  hard job on knees with mask and glasses. Feeling like 40 years ago during military trainings.

Sea-line products (as most of modern paints) let’s amatours for quiet good application. Now my yacht Sombra Blanca has best bottom on the world. In few weeks I’m going to be back on the water”

Can I add some thinner to antifouling paint?

There is a possibility of thinning antifouling, but we do not recommend this procedure due to the risk of reducing the effectiveness of the paint. If it is necessary to thin the antifouling paint, it is recommended to dilute it to a maximum of 0-5% (by volume).

Why the paint does not have the right flow?

Possible causes

  • No thinning, wrong thinner or wrong amount of thinner
  • Wrong type of roll or brush (wrong bristle lenght)
  • Applying too much or too Little paint,
  • During painting process temperature was too high or the air was too dry,
  • Incorrect preparation of too porous surface,
  • Incorrect proportion of thinner.

How to prevent

  • Use a brush/Toller suited to the type of surface or paint,
  • Use thinner which is dedicated to the type of application and paints
  • Use thinning proportions which was indicated by manufacturer,
  • Paint in right atmosphere conditions indicated by manufacturer,

How to remove

  • Grind, clean and paint again.

Can I paint a boat, previously painted with 1 component paint, with polyurethane?

No, polyurethane is a 2-component paint (base + hardener) and after applying 2-component paint to 1-component paint, the proper adhesion of the paint to the surface will not be maintained, the paint will begin to wrinkle and surface defects will appear.
